Meaford Public Library

Aboud & Associates, in partnership with LGA Architectural Partners, undertook the exciting adaptive reuse of a vacant grocery store in Meaford, Ontario, transforming it into the vibrant Meaford Public Library and river-front parkette.

Aboud & Associates worked closely with the prime consultant, the civil, structural, and electrical consulting team on all aspects of the conceptual design development through to contract administration, ensuring a smooth and successful project delivery.

The Meaford Public Library and river-front parkette have become a beloved destination for locals and visitors alike, offering a beautiful and functional space that reflects the community's values and heritage. Our collaborative work with LGA Architectural Partners has also been praised and recognized outside of the Meaford Community. For example, the Meaford Public Library project was featured in AZURE Magazine as a case study or circular architecture and a blog post by the REMI Network.

The project team redeveloped the former parking lot into a beautiful and fully programmed river-front parkette. The parkette boasts a community stage, fire pit, flexible outdoor seating areas, and a children's garden, making it the perfect gathering place for residents and visitors.

To create a sustainable and visually stunning space, Aboud & Associates planted a matrix of drought-tolerant perennials and grasses that provide the space with a background of seasonally changing colour and texture. Additionally, the site reflects the community's agricultural heritage with the introduction of a small orchard that pays homage to Meaford's roots as apple growers.
