Town of Hanover Community Trail
Our ecologists mapped the significant natural features within the study area, identified potential constraints and analyzed proposed alternatives.
Aboud & Associates was retained by the Town of Hanover to complete an Environmental Impact Study for replacement of three pedestrian bridges/structures along the Hanover Community Trail and the rehabilitation of one additional pedestrian bridge/structure over the Saugeen River.
The ecologists at Aboud and Associates completed a desktop review of existing conditions and consulted with Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority, Bruce County, and Grey County in order to confirm an appropriate scope of work. Ecological Land Classification (ELC), Botanical Inventory, Breeding Bird Surveys, Frog Call Surveys, Aquatic Assessment, and Significant Wildlife and Species at Risk Habitat Assessments were completed as part of the scope of work.
Survey results and biological constraints were examined and discussed, impacts of the proposed bridge rehabilitation and replacements were assessed, and appropriate mitigation methods were recommended. Policy compliance was considered and any potential conflicts with federal, provincial, conservation authority, county, or municipal regulations were considered.
Our studies, assessment, and mitigation recommendations were an essential part of a community infrastructure project. The work we completed contributed to the Town of Hanover’s commitment to the protection of Natural Features, Human Health and Safety, and Community Recreation.
