Vimy Park - Mississauga, ON

Our landscape architects revitalized Vimy park, increasing its functionality and accessibility while honouring its historical significance.

The revitalization of Vimy Park in Port Credit, Mississauga, focused on enhancing its functionality and accessibility while honoring its historical significance. Home to the Port Credit War Memorial (Cenotaph), the park serves as a place of reflection and remembrance for local soldiers who served in World Wars I and II, as well as the Korean War.

A key aspect of the project was the expansion of the central plaza to support larger gatherings for commemorative events such as Remembrance Day ceremonies. The redesigned plaza seamlessly integrates with the overall layout, creating a cohesive and respectful setting for visitors.

Make it stand out.

Pathways throughout the park were redesigned and upgraded to improve navigation and accessibility. Pedestrian lighting was added to enhance safety and usability, while new seating areas provide comfortable spaces for rest and reflection. The landscaping was thoughtfully refined to complement the park’s natural beauty while maintaining its tranquil atmosphere in an increasingly urbanized setting, and minor repairs were completed on the Port Credit War Memorial to preserve its historical integrity for future generations. The project was recognized with the Heritage Mississauga Architectural Heritage Award, celebrating its successful balance of modern enhancements with the park’s historic character.

Vimy Park now offers a revitalized space that thoughtfully combines its rich heritage with contemporary design elements, continuing to serve as an important community landmark for remembrance and connection.
